Since its birth 26 years ago, Salsa has been synonymous for providing hearty traditional Italian dishes and service that reminds you of Sunday lunch at nonna's house, and this is what Salsa is all about, making you comfortable and relaxed.
After spending some time in Italy cooking in restaurants on the Ionica coast, new owner Domenic Romeo realized that we in Australia have made Italian cooking too complicated and that simplicity was the key. So upon returning to Australia the search began to find the right venue to introduce simple Italian dishes to his beloved hometown of Adelaide, and Salsa was the one.
He instantly fell in love with the 60's retro decor that has made Salsa an Adelaide icon, but he could see that Salsa was looking tired and in need of some love.
Work soon began on revamping Salsa, with careful consideration being given to retaining that 60's charm. Together with head chef Gianluca Amalfitano, hailing from Naples Italy, the two have created a menu that is as true Italian as Italy itself. Fresh on premise made pasta that is cooked to order and aldente and peperonata that to the uneducated seems overcooked but melts in your mouth, just like it has for generations.
As for the pizza, it has the flavour and crunch of the pizza nonna would make after a load of Sunday wood oven bread in the backyard oven.
But these are just words, and we implore you to come and experience Salsa for yourself....
